History

Born in the USA in 1992, Legends Cars are 5/8th scale replica models of 1930 Ford and Chevrolet Coupes and Sedans.  They race on hard compound tyres and are powered by 122hp Yamaha FJ1200cc engines or 132hp Yamaha 1250cc 'sealed' engines.  Combined with their short wheelbase, it gives the cars their own unique handling characteristics that win the crowd over wherever they appear.

They are attractive, retro looking cars and all have equal power.  Performance enhancements are not allowed.  Therefore the emphasis really is on driver ability.

Legends Cars are based on the original American Hot Rod where no contact is allowed.  The racing is continuously close and dangerously competitive.  Anything can happen and often it does!

The rapid growth of the Oval Track Legends Series in the UK boasts a healthy line up of well over 40 registered drivers.  They have put a whole new dimension on Stock Car Racing in this country ever since they were introduced to the short ovals in 1997 at Hednesford Hills with only a handful of cars.  The Series attempts to fight the high costs involved in racing and the rules are strictly enforced to assist safety and cost control.

In 2006 Oval Track Legends pioneered the use of the RACEceiver communication device on short oval tracks in the UK.  Widely used in the USA, RACEceivers are a one-way radio system which allows the Race Director to talk to ALL the race cars on the track at the same time to aid in the reduction of accidents and increase safety.  Race fans can listen in too by use of a similar device.
