THE OVAL RACING EXPERIENCE 2008

NEC Birmingham

Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th January 2008

BriSCA F1 will once again have a strong representation at the Oval Racing Experience at the NEC 2008.  Not only will the big league have a strong presence in the oval racing section of the show, but once again the ground shaking, crowd pleasing formula will be a mainstay of the main daytime Live Action Arena shows.

A strong contingent of drivers will be headed by reigning World Champion Stuart Smith, Jr (390) and four time World Champion Peter Falding (33). Smith will jet off to New Zealand directly after the show to represent the UK in the World 240 championship at Rotorua. For Falding the NEC will be the opening event in his final season of racing. He has won just about everything there is to win in the sport has decided to hang up his helmet at the end of 2008.

Dave Willis (337) will be making his first appearance at the NEC and to mark the occasion he is debuting a new self built car powered by a massive 510 cubic inch (that's over 8,000 ccs!) which he is hoping will propel him to the to the higher echelons of the sport.

The young guns of the sport are represented by Daniel Johnson (4) , Matt Newson (16)  and  James Lund (153).  All three have won finals this year. Johnson claimed the UK open at Skegness in May, Newson chalked up wins at Northampton and King’s Lynn while Lund was almost unbeatable at the Birmingham Wheels circuit, he was a front runner when ever he raced and picked up two final wins.

Paul Hines (259) will once again lend his hand at promoting the sport. Whenever there is a chance to do something you can bet that Hines will be there. His enthusiasm for the sport has made him one of the most popular and approachable drivers on the circuit.  Ivan Pritchard (434) delighted the crowd with tyre smoking burns outs last year and is promising more of the same in 2008.

Derek Fairhurst (218), who has one of the best turned out cars on the BriSCA F1 circuits, will also joining in the action. Popular Norfolk driver John Lawn (441) is scheduled to make an appearance along with Simon Panton (288) and Tony Smith (91).  Panton has really taken to the F1s since his move over from F2s a few years back. While Smith's endless enthusiasm and energy will see him at most F1 meetings during the year and when he isn't racing he is supporting his son Joshua in the Ministox division

In the Oval Racing Experience hall European champion James Neachell’s (332) car will be joined by another yet to be announced.  The announcement will be made nearer show time but it promises to be something special.

The F1 display certainly drew more than its fair share of attention in 2007 and 2008 promises to be the same.

Fixture lists from all the BriSCA F1 promoters along with some show special publications and posters will once again be handed out by the BriSCA Babes
